About Us

We - Daniela and Markus Heimgartner - were born in Switzerland, grew up there and in 2006 we got married. On July 4th 2007 our little daughter Vivian Rachel was born.

We have been traveling to this area for many years and very soon we got addicted to the beautiful landscape, the warm climate from spring to fall and the outdoor activities in and around the Moab area. Together with the opportunity to acquire the Inca Inn and our desire to become self-employed operating an own tourism related business, where we can share our language and baking skills, we started making plans and preparations for our emigration to the USA. Finally, on July 12th 2007 our visa had been approved by the US embassy in Berne which was the definite start of a new future for the three of us.

Back in Switzerland Markus has found the 4x4 club US 4-Wheelers and had been president for 7 years. In Moab, as a member of the local 4x4 Club Red Rock 4-Wheelers, Inc. Markus has attended and assisted the club during Moab Easter Jeep Safari on many trails since then and got to know the backcountry of Moab quite well.

The Motel

The Inca Inn is a well established motel with 23 rooms and is owned and operated by ourselves together with our staff.

The motel is located at the through fare route 191, about 150 miles north of Monument Valley and 110 miles southwest of Grand Junction, Colorado. The facility is at the northern end of picturesque Moab, Utah, surrounded by beautiful red colored rims, cliffs and canyons which were set free by the Colorado River and erosion.

Our long term goal for the Inca Inn is to become the lodging of choice in the lower to mid-budget price range for the active outdoor adventurer, attracting guests from the U.S. as well as overseas by creating a unique experience focusing on personal service in several languages. It is intended to offer the best value for service and convenient location in walking distance to dozens of restaurants and outdoor supplies in Moab.

Our Keys to Success

  • We would like to be our own guests

  • Give each guest a sense that she/he is our top priority and retaining them to ensure repeat bookings and referrals

  • Offer good value for the money by keeping room-rates moderate and focusing on the lower to mid budget tourists (single travelers, families, active outdoor-adventurers, groups)

  • Attract guests by providing service and knowledge of places and activities in the Moab area as well as special services on request

  • Provide a clean, conveniently located and well maintained facility with attention to detail and ample parking

  • Speaking several languages to assist guests throughout all their needs and questions
